MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Vikings tendered a contract to offensive tackle Mike Harris, one of their two remaining restricted free agents, on Tuesday morning.
According to a league source, the Vikings placed the low-level tender of $1.542 million on Harris, meaning they have a five-day "right of first refusal" to match any offers from other clubs. The Vikings would not receive draft pick compensation if they let Harris leave.
Harris started the Vikings' final five games at right tackle after Phil Loadholt tore his pectoral muscle. He also played guard when the Vikings lost Vlad Ducasse to an injury in Buffalo and would return as a backup if he is on the Vikings' roster next season.
The Vikings signed Harris after he was released by the San Diego Chargers at the end of training camp last August.
Minnesota signed restricted free agent running back Matt Asiata to a one-year deal on Monday night. They have not offered a deal to linebacker Dom DeCicco.
