FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Patriots waived first-year running back Joey Iosefa, who spent most of the 2015 season on the practice squad, as they used his roster spot to account for the signing of eight draft picks and eight undrafted free agents. The team's lone unsigned draft choice is quarterback Jacoby Brissett (third round, 91st overall).
As for Iosefa, he turned some heads as a power rusher late last season when he was promoted to the active roster. His steamrolling run against the Tennessee Titans, in which he flattened defensive back Coty Sensabaugh, was one of the team's highlight plays of the year.
While the Patriots could bring Iosefa back at a later date, they still have a full stable at running back, with LeGarrette Blount, Dion Lewis, James White, Donald Brown, Brandon Bolden, Tyler Gaffney and rookie free agent D.J. Foster, as well as fullback James Develin.
