The New Orleans Saints will close out their preseason tonight at 6 p.m. against the Green Bay Packers in Lambeau Field. Here are a couple things to watch for during the game:
Why to watch: Veteran starters like Drew Brees will likely sit this one out entirely, which makes this game even more crucial for the “bubble” players who will get a ton of snaps. Three of the most compelling position battles are at wide receiver (Willie Snead, Seantavius Jones, Josh Morgan and Joseph Morgan battling for two or three spots); defensive line (undrafted rookies Bobby Richardson, Tavaris Barnes and Ashaad Mabry likely competing for one or two spots); and kicker (all or nothing between Dustin Hopkins and Zach Hocker). “I think it’s gonna be everything,” Richardson said. “I mean, everybody who’s still here is waiting for that last game.”
Did you know: The Saints are 0-3 in the preseason -- a misleading tally considering how thoroughly their starting units dominated the New England Patriots while jumping to a 21-0 lead two week ago, but a frustrating record nonetheless. The only time the Saints have ever gone winless in the preseason was 1971.
