METAIRIE, La. -- In a transaction that might cause some déjà vu among the Who Dat Nation, the New Orleans Saints have agreed to another deal with a veteran safety/special-teamer who joined them midway through last season.
The Saints have agreed to a one-year veteran minimum contract with safety Shiloh Keo, a source confirmed (as first reported by NOLA.com). The move comes one day after New Orleans agreed to a two-year deal with safety Chris Banjo.
Both players joined the Saints midway through last season when New Orleans was dealing with injuries and placed an emphasis on beefing up its special-teams coverage. And both immediately became core special-teams contributors -- finishing with exactly five special-teams tackles apiece. Keo also had a fumble recovery during his seven games played with the Saints.
Keo, 29, spent his first five-plus seasons with the Houston Texans and Denver Broncos. The 5-foot-11, 208-pounder played exclusively on special teams during his time with New Orleans last year. But he started 11 games for the Texans in 2013.
