The New York Giants announced Thursday that they have terminated the contract of wide receiver Kevin Ogletree and waived linebacker Terrell Manning. The moves likely were made to make room for undrafted free agents whose signings the Giants will announce at the start of their two-day rookie minicamp Friday.
Neither move is a big surprise. The signing of Dwayne Harris and the drafting of sixth-round pick Geremy Davis left the Giants overloaded at the wide receiver position. Ogletree caught five passes for 50 yards in seven games as a back-of-the-roster wide receiver for the Giants in 2014. Harris, who plays on all four special teams units, can handle Ogletree's duties in the offense and more. Ogletree re-signed with the team in February, prior to the start of free agency, and the Giants have since altered their plans without him in them.
Manning played in only one game for the Giants last season and has played in a total of 10 games over four NFL seasons with the Packers, Chargers, Bears and Giants.
