EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. –- Just one week after signing with the New York Giants, safety Stevie Brown was released on Monday to make room for another former Giant safety.
The Giants signed Craig Dahl, who was part of the 2007 Super Bowl championship team. Dahl is very familiar with defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. Spagnuolo coached Dahl during his first stint as defensive coordinator for the Giants in 2007 and as head coach of the St. Louis Rams from 2009-11.
Dahl spent the previous two seasons with the 49ers and played in 16 games with a total of 23 tackles and one interception last season.
The Giants were battered by injuries at safety with Bennett Jackson, Mykkele Thompson, Nat Berhe and Josh Gordy all landing on injured reserve.
Dahl joins Landon Collins, Cooper Taylor and Brandon Meriweather at safety.
