Ownership philosophy: "Heavy pursuit of winning a championship." That has led to aggressiveness and impatience as the Washington Redskins have had eight coaches in Snyder's 15 years. They've also spent big on free agency, notably their 2000 class of Deion Sanders, Mark Carrier and Bruce Smith but also players such as Albert Haynesworth and Adam Archuleta and made big trades for quarterbacks Donovan McNabb and later Robert Griffin III.
Defining moment in ownership tenure: Firing coach Marty Schottenheimer after the 2001 season. The longtime coach had managed control over the football operations, firing Vinny Cerrato. But this -- and other factors -- led to a poor relationship with Snyder, who wanted more control. So after the team had won eight of its last 11 under Schottenheimer to finish 8-8, Snyder fired him and hired Steve Spurrier.
