LANDOVER, Md. -- Seen and overheard in the Washington Redskins' locker room after their 19-17 win over the Tennessee Titans:
There is some concern that linebacker Brian Orakpo suffered a partially torn right pectoral muscle and might need surgery. Orakpo will undergo an MRI on Monday to see if the Redskins’ fears are legitimate. Orakpo hurt his arm, re-entered the game and then left again. He has suffered two torn pectoral muscles in the past, but both on the left side. Orakpo has not had the season he or the Redskins hoped for, with only a half-sack, in a year when he’s playing for a new contract.
The relief felt by the players was huge. Tight end Logan Paulsen admitted that winning felt “even better than I thought it would.” Player after player admitted that there was a loss of confidence because of the four-game skid. “Confidence is everything in this league,” tight end Niles Paul said. “You take a confident team and you can do a lot.”
Quarterback Kirk Cousins dressed quietly and headed to the podium for his postgame news conference. He clearly didn’t like how he played; he also hid it well. “No one ever said it was going to be easy,” he said.
