NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A few thoughts from the Houston Texans' 30-16 win against the Tennessee Titans.
What it means: A division win brings the Texans to 1-1 in the AFC South, and their 4-4 record doubles the number of last season's wins. This also puts the Texans firmly in second place behind the Indianapolis Colts in the division.
Stock watch: The stock of the Texans' mental fortitude is up. Houston did give up a few big plays, and it did have trouble offensively to start the game. But the Texans didn't let either of those things cause a collapse. This time, the Texans turned a 13-3 lead into a 27-3 lead by the end of the third quarter and won the game by two scores.
Clowney returns: The Texans didn't use Jadeveon Clowney exactly as they said they would; he came in on certain drives and wasn't limited to third down. The Texans seemed to be using him to spell Brooks Reed, who is dealing with a groin injury. Clowney didn't have any highlight-reel plays as he got his feet wet, but he nearly brought Titans quarterback Zach Mettenberger down near the Titans' goal line on third down midway through the fourth quarter.
Game ball: A week after committing a costly fumble against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Arian Foster embarrassed the Titans' run defense. He had two runs longer than 30 yards and scored three touchdowns -- two receiving and one rushing. It was the third time in his career Foster has had three touchdowns in one game.
What's next? The Texans host the Philadelphia Eagles in the game directly before their bye week.
