GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Observed and heard in the locker room after the Arizona Cardinals' 14-6 victory over the Detroit Lions:
In the third quarter, Cardinals rookie tight end Troy Niklas re-injured the left high-ankle sprain he suffered in Week 5. "We'll wait and see on that," he said.
One of the crazier plays of the season took place early in the fourth quarter when Cardinals defensive back Justin Bethel tried to down a punt at the goal line. He attempted to toss the ball back to a teammate, then he fell into the end zone, then the ball was picked up by Detroit's Jeremy Ross. The Lions receiver returned it 49 yards, only for the play to be challenged and overturned. Detroit got the ball at the 1. "I knew I had possession," Bethel said. Bethel said he tried to argue his feet were in the end zone, which would've caused the punt to be ruled a touchback.
After tackling Detroit's Joique Bell for a 3-yard loss in the third quarter, veteran linebacker Larry Foote was pushed from behind by Lions guard Rob Sims, but the act wasn't flagged. Foote said he complained to the officials, who said Sims was pushed. "I told the ref I'm going to get his email," Foote said. "He said the guy got pushed. That's a good crew, so I didn't really jump on him too bad. He said the guy got pushed, so I said I'm going to send you an email."
