GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Observed and heard in the locker room after the Philadelphia Eagles' 53-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers:
The Eagles lost a game like this in Denver last year, but that was early in the season, when the players weren’t too sure about where the team was headed. This time, the mood was different. “Whether you lose by 30 or you lose by a point, it’s still a loss,” cornerback Cary Williams said. “We’ve just got to move on, look at the film and make sure we don’t make the same mistakes again.”
Bill Davis’ defense was coming off its most dominant all-around performance on Monday night against Carolina. Giving up 53 points (though two touchdowns were scored by the Packers’ defense) was not what Davis expected in this game. “I give them the credit,” Davis said. “And us, we just had a bad day. The plan is always to pressure the quarterback. Aaron Rodgers is on fire right now. We gave him our best shot, and it wasn’t close to being good enough today.”
Center Jason Kelce snapped the ball over Mark Sanchez’s head, which led to a 49-yard fumble recovery for a Packers touchdown. Kelce had a low snap fumbled by Sanchez last week. “It’s extremely frustrating,” Kelce said. “I feel like I’m letting down a bunch of teammates, a bunch of players. It’s a terrible feeling.”
