The Pittsburgh Steelers have been awarded former Michigan quarterback Devin Gardner on waivers. Gardner had been released by New England, where he signed after not being drafted.
The Patriots signed Gardner with the intention of moving him to receiver, but the experiment ended after 11 days -- and after the Patriots gave Gardner a $5,000 signing bonus and guaranteed $10,000 of his salary.
Gardner played in 50 games at Michigan with starts as a quarterback and wide receiver.
It's not known where the Steelers will ask Gardner to play. He threw for 6,336 yards and 44 touchdowns at Michigan -- 21 coming in the 2013 season.
