SAN DIEGO -- Philip Rivers finished No. 2 in the NFL in passing yards (4,792), and led the league in attempts (661) and completions (437) last season. Though the San Diego Chargers quarterback might not eclipse those numbers, he still should be among the league leaders again in 2016.

Over or under: He hasn’t missed a start in a decade, and the offense generally runs through him, but I’ll go with the under for Rivers this season. With the return of offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt, the Chargers are committed to running the football. I also think San Diego will play from ahead more often this season, which means a steady diet of runs in the fourth quarter and less of an opportunity for Rivers to stay in shotgun and throw it all over the yard.
Who else could see time: Kellen Clemens is in a competition with Zach Mettenberger and Mike Bercovici for the No. 2 job, but whoever wins out likely will be holding a clipboard for the entire season. Rivers rarely comes off of the field.
