GLENDALE, Ariz. -- He's having the type of Super Bowl kids dream about in the backyard.
Chris Matthews wasn't on the Seattle Seahawks' roster two months ago, as he spent most of the season on the team's practice squad. His first career catch came in the second quarter of Sunday's Super Bowl XLIX, and by the middle of the third quarter, he had 100 receiving yards and was the front-runner to win Super Bowl MVP.
Here's five things you didn't know about Matthews:
Promoted from the Seahawks' practice squad Dec. 6, 2014, Matthews played in five games without a reception before the Super Bowl.
Played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League in 2012 and 2013 and was named the CFL's 2012 Most Outstanding Rookie, with 81 receptions for 1,192 yards and seven touchdowns.
Went undrafted out of the University of Kentucky in 2011 but signed with the Cleveland Browns on July 30, 2011, and was released Sept. 3 that year.
Didn't play football during the 2011 season.
Worked at Foot Locker and was a security guard between playing in the CFL and getting signed by the Seahawks as a free agent on Feb. 18, 2014.
