Every weekday morning, we'll round up local and national Seattle Seahawks-related links.
Punter Jon Ryan deleted his social-media accounts after he grew frustrated with how some of his followers reacted to the shootings in Orlando, Florida, over the weekend. He talked to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times about why:
“I think if the team had told me to take it down then I would have kept it up, to be honest," he said. “That’s how I react to stuff like that. The team definitely had nothing to do with it. I wasn’t trying to hide what I said by any means. I will come forward and say that again, and I will stand up to anyone who is trying to oppose equality for sure. So I wasn’t trying to hide what I said by any means."
Cornerback Tharold Simon and wide receiver Antwan Goodley mixed it up at Wednesday's practice, writes Stephen Cohen of SeattlePI.com:
About midway through the 80-minute session, Simon, a fourth-year cornerback from LSU, knocked wide receiver Antwan Goodley to the ground after Goodley made a long catch during 11-on-11 drills.
Goodley, a second-year pro from Baylor, took exception to the hit, which may have been incidental, and Simon went after Goodley, yelling at him while teammates Jermaine Kearse, Christine Michael and Kam Chancellor, among others, confronted Simon.
Conor Orr of NFL.com looks at Doug Baldwin's contract situation:
The issue for Baldwin will be fair compensation. As an undrafted free agent, Baldwin was on the bottom rung of the league's salary structure before the three-year, $13 million deal he signed in 2014. Baldwin is set to earn $4 million this year plus a hefty bonus. His salary-cap number is $6.325 million. Baldwin, though, deserves much more. He is one of just five NFL players over the last 11 years to go undrafted and log 1,000-plus yards and 10-plus touchdowns in a season. His 2015 stats -- 78 catches, 1,069 yards and 14 touchdowns -- was higher in approximate value (Pro Football Reference) than Victor Cruz's best season in 2011.
