NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Titans had few notable performances from a deficient roster during a miserable 2-14 season.
No one is going to the Pro Bowl. There was no rush to look at the All Pro teams, knowing there was no chance of anyone from Tennessee being on it.
Alas, a postseason award of note has arrived. Titans first-round pick Taylor Lewan is on the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team.
Lewan and Miami's Ja'Wuan James are the offensive tackles.
Slots on such teams can be a bit strange. You need to play well, but it also helps if there aren't a lot of other rookies starting at your position. The competition at one spot can be extreme with a good player left out. Another spot can be won simply by being a starter somewhere.
Lewan was mostly good in his six starts. He sat the first five games as veteran Michael Roos started. Roos was then lost for the season with a serious knee injury that may lead to his retirement. And Lewan sat the last five games with a high ankle sprain.
Those six games got him a line on his résumé with the slot on the All-Rookie Team.
