ASHBURN, Va., -- Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson did not practice for a third straight day and is questionable for Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Rams.
Jackson most likely will be a game-time decision as it’s more about how much pain he can play with vs. doing anything to hurt his injured right fibula worse. The Redskins wanted to give Jackson as much rest as possible.
“Hopefully, he’ll feel better tomorrow and come Sunday, he’ll be ready to go,” Redskins coach Jay Gruden said. “If he’s not full strength, then he’ll be a longshot to play.”
Defensive end Kedric Golston (back/foot) and corner Chase Minnifield (concussion) both are out, while safety Brandon Meriweather (toe) is doubtful. Linebacker Keenan Robinson, who did not practice for a second straight day, is questionable with a sprained knee. Defensive lineman Chris Baker (chest) and defensive end Jason Hatcher (knee) both were limited Friday and are questionable.
If Meriweather can’t play, then Phillip Thomas will make his first NFL start. He has played 38 snaps in his career. Thomas, a fourth-round pick in 2013, missed all of last season with a Lisfranc injury and has been bothered by various injuries this season.
“I definitely am excited,” Thomas said. “It’s been a long time coming, and it’s time to show what I have and show what I can do and go out and make some plays and do my responsibilities and show why they drafted me. It’s a big opportunity for me, and I’m ready for it.”
If Robinson can’t play, then Will Compton would take over for him.
