The Washington Redskins placed defensive end Jason Hatcher on the injured reserve list and claimed another defensive lineman off waivers, according to the NFL transaction report Saturday.
The Redskins claimed defensive tackle Travian Robertson, who was waived by Seattle on Friday. Robertson played in one game for the Seahawks, who signed him on Nov. 18. He played in 12 games with Atlanta in 2012-13. Both Atlanta and Seattle run a 4-3 front; Washington uses a 3-4. But whether or not the Redskins will activate him for Sunday's finale vs. Dallas is uncertain.
Hatcher's season ends in disappointment. The Redskins had high hopes for what he could do to help the interior pass rush. Hatcher finished the season with 5.5 sacks, but his effectiveness waned as the season progressed, perhaps because of nagging issues with his knees. He had surgery on his left knee before training camp and injured his right one during the season.
Washington signed Hatcher, who spent eight seasons in Dallas, to a four-year deal with $10.5 million guaranteed last spring. On Friday, Hatcher said he was frustrated by how the season unfolded and was looking forward to getting healthy.
