The Washington Redskins signed two more players to reserve/future contracts, bringing their total to 15 thus far in the offseason.
Washington signed linebackers Ricky Sapp and Austin Spitler, both of whom are NFL veterans. Sapp, who played at Clemson, has appeared in 17 games over five seasons with the New York Jets and Houston Texans. He appeared in a combined eight games the past two years with the Texans. Sapp was originally a fifth-round pick by Philadelphia.
Spitler, who played at Ohio State, was a seventh-round pick by Miami in 2010. He played in 55 games over four years with Miami but did not play in the NFL last season. Baltimore released him in August.
Teams can only sign players to a future contract if they were not on a roster at the end of the season. Their contracts take effect once the new league year begins in March.
