GREEN BAY, Wis. – Just like last week, the Green Bay Packers (10-4) cannot clinch a playoff spot on their own.
They need help.
But there is a scenario in which they can wrap up a playoff spot even if they lose at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-12) on Sunday.
The Packers will clinch a playoff spot if:
They beat the Buccaneers and the Philadelphia Eagles lose or tie at the Washington Redskins
They beat the Buccaneers and the Dallas Cowboys win or tie against the Indianapolis Colts
They tie the Buccaneers and the Eagles lose
They tie the Buccaneers and the Eagles tie and the Cowboys win or tie
The Eagles lose and the Cowboys win or tie
Those are all the positives that could happen in terms of the playoffs. But there’s a negative, too. They could lose the NFC North if the Detroit Lions win at the Chicago Bears and the Packers lose. That would hand the division to the Lions and mean the only way the Packers would qualify for the postseason is as a wild-card team.
