Here is an update on what the Kansas City Chiefs have done in free agency.
Additions
S Tyvon Branch: He signed a one-year contract worth $2.1 million after being released by the Oakland Raiders. He should compete for a starting spot, and at a minimum play in one or more of the Chiefs’ substitute defensive packages.
G Paul Fanaika: He signed a three-year contract worth $6.15 million as an unrestricted free agent from the Arizona Cardinals. He should compete for a starting spot at right guard.
G Ben Grubbs: He was acquired from the New Orleans Saints for a fifth-round draft pick and should start at left guard.
WR Jeremy Maclin: He signed a five-year contract worth $55 million as an unrestricted free agent from the Philadelphia Eagles and will be a starter.
Staying put
WR Jason Avant: He re-signed on a one-year contract worth $950,000 and should play as a slot receiver.
TE Richard Gordon: He re-signed on a one-year contract worth $745,000 and should compete for a spot as a backup.
LB Josh Mauga: He re-signed on a three-year contract worth $8.25 million and should be a starter at inside linebacker.
S Kelcie McCray: He re-signed on a two-year contract worth $1.26 million and should compete for a backup spot.
LB Dezman Moses: He re-signed on a one-year contract worth $585,000 and should compete for a backup spot at outside linebacker.
S Ron Parker: He re-signed on a five-year contract worth $25 million and should start at strong safety.
Subtractions
WR Donnie Avery: He was released after two seasons as a starter. He remains unsigned.
WR Dwayne Bowe: He was released after eight seasons as a starter and signed a two-year contract worth $12.5 million with the Cleveland Browns.
S Kurt Coleman: He became an unrestricted free agent after one season as a backup. He signed a two-year contract worth $2.8 million with the Carolina Panthers.
TE Anthony Fasano: He was released after two seasons as a starter and signed a two-year contract worth $5.25 million with the Tennessee Titans.
LS Thomas Gafford: He became an unrestricted free agent after seven seasons and signed a one-year contract worth $870,000 with the Chicago Bears.
C Rodney Hudson: He became an unrestricted free agent after two seasons as a starter and signed a five-year contract with the Oakland Raiders worth $44.5 million.
WR A.J. Jenkins: He was released after two seasons as a backup and remains unsigned.
LB Joe Mays: He was released after one season as a backup and remains unsigned.
DL Kevin Vickerson: He became an unrestricted free agent after one season as backup and signed a one-year contract worth $950,000 with the New York Jets.
DL Vance Walker: He was released after one season as a backup and signed a two-year contract worth $4 million with the Denver Broncos.

OT Ryan Harris: He is an unrestricted free agent after one season as the starting right tackle.
LB Justin Houston: He was declared the franchise player and as such has a one-year contract offer worth $13.2 million from the Chiefs, but remains unsigned. He can sign with another team, but the Chiefs would receive two first-round draft picks if they decline to match the offer.
OL Jeff Linkenbach: He in an unrestricted free agent after one season as a backup.
OL Mike McGlynn: He is an unrestricted free agent after one season as the starting left guard.
RB Joe McKnight: He is an unrestricted free agent after one season as a backup.
