NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- How will the Tennessee Titans running backs stack up in production in 2016?
ESPN Fantasy Projection: 876 yards, 6.8 TDs
Over or under: Over. I believe these fantasy projections are dividing the carries too evenly between Murray and Derrick Henry. I think Murray will have a bigger lead on Henry in carries than 200-158, and I think he will wind up with more like 1,000 yards if he stays healthy. The Titans' blocking has to be improved and they should be in more games where they don't have to give up on the run. The preseason opener, in which the two combined for 167 rushing yards and two TDs on 16 first-half carries against the San Diego Chargers, certainly made it feel as if things are moving in a good direction.
Derrick Henry
ESPN Fantasy Projection: 672 yards, 6.7 TDs
Over or under: Over. I don't think he will get as many carries as some believe. But he'll be bolstered by a giant game or two and top this yardage number while falling close to this touchdown range. Henry has run well through two weeks of training camp and in the preseason opener. He's got the body and the will to block but continues to refine technique with coach Sylvester Croom. I certainly think the Titans will lean more on Murray.
Who else could see time: Dexter McCluster will be a specialty back, but finding the situations for him has proved difficult in his first two seasons with the Titans, and I suspect it will again. David Cobb, Antonio Andrew and Bishop Sankey are fighting for a spot or two. It would take big injuries for them to be consequential fantasy guys.
