They're not the sort of moves that will dig them out of a 3-10 hole, but they're the sort of moves Washington hopes can make even a little bit of a difference.
On Tuesday, the Redskins signed linebacker Ja'Gared Davis off Kansas City's practice squad and promoted linebacker Trevardo Williams off their own practice squad and released three players: linebacker Steve Beauharnais, linebacker Everette Brown and corner Greg Ducre. They also signed running back Michael Hill and linebacker Justin Jackson to their practice squad. The Redskins might need to promote a running back to the active roster with Roy Helu out for Sunday's game at the New York Giants.
Davis, an outside linebacker, played collegiately at SMU and entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Houston in 2013. The Texans released him that August and he was claimed by New England. He played one game for the Patriots last season and three this season before being released and re-signed to their practice squad. He was later released and Kansas City signed him to its practice squad.
Williams, who played collegiately at Connecticut, was a fourth-round pick in 2013 by Houston. The Texans released him in August, Arizona picked him up and cut him a week later. He was signed to Washington's practice squad last week.
